Allied Elite finally silenced their remaining critics and look likely to have dumped Will Scarlet out of the tournament in the group stages, with a convincing 2-0 win.

The game started off very cagily, both sides knowing that they really needed a win here today. Chances were few until the 32nd minute, when AEL broke away after a WS attack and AEL striker Richard Connelly finished off a flowing move with a smooth finish.

WS tried in vain to grab an equaliser and were the dominant team for most of the rest of the game, but AEL put the result beyond doubt with just 12 minutes remaining, Connelly claiming his second after another AEL breakaway move.

Although nothing is certain yet, AEL look likely to have booked their place in the knock-out stages, whilst WS look like they're going home already.

Bah more bad luck for us, in both games so far we have more than held our own and been unlucky.

Looks like we have come a long way though since that 6-0 freindly defeat 8)
