A real game of two halves here, and although most neutrals would agree that it was a fair result, the LE will rue their missed chances. The game began with several strong attacks from the LE, who should have gone ahead early on, but NSA rode their luck and, knowing that they really needed a win today, kept pushing forward. The gamble paid off as they scored not one, but two early goals, Daniel Attenza with the first, and Jamie Moore slotting away the first penalty of the tournament. Desperate for the win, NSA reverted to a more defensive formation, but this backfired as LE pulled back both goals before halftime, the first from Brian Palmer, the 2nd from Jon Gee. The second half turned out to be something of a disappointment compared to the action packed first. LE knew that a draw would probably be good enough to see them through to the next round, and NSA knew that defeat would see them going home, so both sides played more negatively and there were no more goals. As it stands now, NSA have to win their final game and hope that other results go in their favour, whilst LE are looking good for the knock-out stages. |
